Kathy Haight teaches a variety of courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences, with specific interests in health promotion, program planning, implementation, evaluation, and community health nursing. She has extensive experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her experience as a community health nurse working in rural and remote areas, in addition to her experience as a Medic with the Canadian Forces, has provided opportunities to work with a wide variety of populations in diverse settings and unique environments.Kathy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Honors from the University of British Columbia and her Master of Nursing from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed with the College and Associates of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
Research Interests
Kathy has research and consulting interests in health-related program design, implementation science, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and quality improvement initiatives.Kathy's past research interests were in youth school-based tobacco prevention. She was awarded the Alberta Health Services Barb Tarbox Award of Excellence in Tobacco Reduction for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Academy for Tobacco Prevention program.
This early research interest has broadened to exploring recovery programs, communities, and systems of care.
